Double Graphic Liner

The Double Graphic Liner was commonly seen at Fashion Week throughout various shows from Nanette Lepore at New York Fashion Week to Mikhael Kale at Toronto Fashion Week 2014. This is probably the most wearable trend this spring that I believe can be pulled off with any eye type.

The look is essentially a strong black liner across the lashline and a white liner just above it, with matte skin and a neutral lip. 

Face:

First, I primed my face with Make Up For Ever's Skin Equalizer Radiant (Blue) Primer* and primed under the eyes with Olay Eye Brightening Cc Cream*, one of my favourite products to prime my eyes with. I used Mac's Soft Ochre Paint Pot as a base for the eyelids, and filled in my brows with Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Chocolate. I went in with a full coverage foundation, Estee Lauder's Double Wear Foundation in shade 1W2 Sand. This foundation is excellent when it comes to being transfer resistant and will definitely stay on all day, however, the finish is very flawless and it will be obvious that you have foundation on. I use a under-eye concealer that is lighter than my skintone to brighten the area, this one being NYX Hd Concealer in Porcelain. This concealer is so awesome to use with a small brush and then achieve a flawless effect with a Beauty Blender. I then used a pigmented bronzer (Benefit's ever so popular Hoola Bronzer) to get strong bronzed cheekbones, and then lightly dusted it over the rest of my face. Then I generously applied my Rodial Instaglam Illuminating Powder* under the eyes and above the cheekbones. 

Eyes:

For the Double Graphic Liner look, I began by applying Mauve and Sable (a mauve and taupe) in my crease from the Lorac Pro Palette. I then applied the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk as a base on my lids. It didn't go on smoothly so I blended it out and re-applied until it was semi-opaque. I continued to darken the crease while re-applying the white pencil, carefully, until I had a smooth line. I blended out the inner corners so the white wouldn't be so vibrant because we want the outer corners to stand out more. 

I then applied Maybelline's Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Blackest Black close to my lash line and slowly builded it, while creating a winged line. I went over the white base with a thinner white liner (Revlon Photoready Kajal Intense Eye Liner + Brightener*) for precision and to enhance the colour. I continued to go over this and the gel black liner until it was opaque and stayed put. I then set the two colours with a matte White and Black eyeshadow from the Lorac Pro Palette. I did leave the lashes bare, partially because I didn't have an eyelash curler with me but also because I realized it brought out the bold contrast of the shadows.

Lips: 

I primed and lightened my pigmented lips with MAC Lip Pencil in Naked. I finished the lips with a mix of 2 shades, a nude and a pink, because I don't own a light matte neutral, which is what I'd prefer to use with this look (Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in 256 Creme*, 395 Darling*).

Fashion Magazine Beauty Panel: How to Wear Purple Makeup

Purple is one of the best colours to accent brown or hazel eyes. It took me a while to figure this out when I was younger, because the only colour I wanted to wear on my eyes was blue. But blues are a bit harsher on my brown eyes and hooded eyelids, and I realized my eyes work much better with purple shades. 

For a more subtle purple look, I’d go for pinky-purples, and add a lighter shade in the inner corners. I think that bluish-purples tend to look more dramatic and work best with lighter eyes, but all types of purple can definitely make your eyes pop.

Whether I am going for a subtle or dramatic look, I will always add a darker purple in the crease. I think that this helps to add depth for hooded eyelids, especially. Depending on the look I am going for, I will add a very deep purple (dramatic) or a purple only slighter darker than what I used on the lid. 

For this look, I actually added a mauve in the upper crease, but I made sure to have a darker purple in the outer corners of my eyes.

Be sure to prime your eyes beforehand, and use a white base if you’d like the colours to appear much brighter. I used the Coastal Scents 252 Palette in this look, but if you’re not totally sure about purple on your eyes, you can try experimenting with a variety of mini palettes available in stores. Maybelline has quite a few purple palettes in their Color Plush Eyeshadows or Color Explosion Luminizing Eyeshadow Collections.

Fashion Magazine Beauty Panel: How to Wear Red Eyeshadow

I'm so excited to share with you all that I am now apart of Fashion Magazine's Beauty Panel! If you don't know what the Beauty Panel is.. it's exactly what it sounds like! A panel consisting of many beauty bloggers who choose to partake in weekly challenges to bring you a variety of looks, tips and tricks! This is the second challenge that I've participated in! You can see the first, about transitioning your makeup from summer to fall here.

This challenge is all about how to wear red makeup... more specifically, red eyeshadow. I know I had trouble with this trend when I was younger. I actually tried to wear red lip liner on my eyes, and it would smudge like crazy! Anyway, I hope you enjoy my look below and if you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to answer them in the comments below! :)

If you’re afraid of wearing red makeup, know that you’re not alone! Red makeup is probably one of the hardest colours to wear on your face, and especially on the eyes. I hate to say it, but I have a fear of red lips. A bold red just doesn’t suit my full lips or skin tone, but I am slowly trying to get into it! Because red makeup is trending for fall, I created a smoked out look on my eyes using Cover Girl’s Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in “Red Hot Flame” as my base, all over the lid. I then used a few browns from The Balm’s Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette in my crease. Applying browns over Cover Girl’s Shadow Pencil in the crease gave it a dark burgundy tone. I also added a shimmery burgundy from my 252 Coastal Scents Palette over the lid which reminded me of red velvet cake and added a bit more vibrance to the look! You can also apply Nyx’s Eyeshadow in “Fahrenheit” over the Cover Girl Pencil to achieve the same colour on the lid. Lastly, I applied Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk in my inner corners, and Smog by Urban Decay on the bottom lashline in the outer corners. I completed the eyes with my ultra thin eyeliner and waterproof mascara. I finished the lips with a hint of coral, using L’Oréal Colour Riche Lipstick in “Sunset Angoria.”
