Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer & CC Eye Cream

aveeno postively radiant daily moisturizer and cc eye cream review

Aveeno is a brand known for their 'Active Naturals' ingredients included in their skin and haircare products to provide natural benefits. Positively Radiant is probably their most well known facial skincare collection, with the products consisting of tone-evening Total Soy Complex. As a teen I actually used to use a few products in this collection, as they were the only drugstore products I could find that worked well with my skin.

Aveeno Postively Radiant Daily Moisturizer - $21.99 CAD for 120ml
• "Contains SPF 15, Gentle enough for sensitive skin
• Natural light diffusers (mica and silica) to smooth imperfections
• Reduces appearance of discolouration, All day moisture
• Absorbs quickly, oil-free, hypoallergenic"

This moisturizer does contain SPF for those (like me!) who forget or get too lazy to put it on every day. It feels moisturizing, doesn't feel super heavy but of course you can definitely tell that it contains SPF. The lotion is white but you can see very light shimmer when rubbed into the skin.

I was afraid this might look a little oily under my skin even though it is oil-free, which it did (slightly), but only a little more than my regular moisturizer does. I still would feel comfortable wearing this on a daily basis under makeup.

A downside of this moisturizer containing SPF is that you will not want to wear it at night. I wouldn't want to either just because it is marketed as a daytime lotion, and it smells strongly of SPF.

I wasn't able to test the moisturizer long enough to see whether it has an effect on the texture of my skintone or not, but I will definitely update here. But I think it is safe to say that this has not caused any reaction or issue with my skin so far!

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cc Eye Cream - $19.97 to $22.99 CAD for 15ml
• Contains SPF 25
• Instantly conceal signs of fatigue including dark circles, dullness, puffiness
• Improve skin tone and appearance throughout the day
• Gentle and lightweight formula, oil-free, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic"

Shades Available: Fair to Light, Medium

Aveeno doesn't put much focus into their makeup items, so I would have thought twice seeing this on the shelf. It is marketed as a Cc Eye Cream, but it is actually a medium coverage concealer! The coverage is something I would not expect from Aveeno.

The texture is a bit thick and can look a bit drying under the eyes so moisturize first! It contains SPF 25. Coverage is definitely more than enough for every day wear, I even wore this out at night once. But due to the SPF factor, I would stick to daytime use with this one.

I was impressed at how well this camouflaged my dark spots (see before/after shots below), but I did find that it showed my fine lines a little too easy. This doesn't bother me too too much as I have this problem with most concealers.

To apply, I tend to dab it on with a finger first and then quickly blend it out with a Beauty Blender sponge. A wet sponge would be best as this can dry quickly but either will do.

The Fair to Light shade is a neutral-pink tone, whereas the Medium shade has more of a neutral-yellow undertone. The Medium shade was too dark for me so in the before and after shots, I am only testing the Fair to Light shade.

Spectro Combination Skin Cleanser + Moisturizer

spectro combination skin cleanser and moisturizer review

Spectro is an affordable, easy-to-find skincare line, that really gets overlooked. Its affordability can really scare us away from thinking it's a good product. I used Spectro as a young teen when I had acne problems, and it really worked well for my skin. I now have more of a combination skin type, so I received the newly packaged Combination Skin Cleaner and Moisturizer to test out.

Spectro has 3 lines for 3 different skin types. Combination, Dry, and Oily/Blemish-Prone Skin. All 3 cleansers come in a huge 500 ml size, but the Dry and Oily/Blemish-Prone cleansers do come in other sizes as well. All the moisturizers are non-comedogenic, won't clog pores, and contain a non-greasy formula to prevent irritation. Spectro also claims that their products are dermatologist recommended (which I do believe, since I was once recommended one of their products by a doctor).

The Combination Skin Cleanser is designed to deep clean while maintaining the skin's natural moisture barrier. It is pH balanced, gentle, designed for sensitive skin, non-comedogenic + free from fragrance, dyes, sodium, sulphates, parabens, and lanolin.

While this cleanser does not feel like it does a deep clean, it is super gentle, non irritating, non drying, and there is no fragrance to it. It is a very simple cleanser, but it will not efficiently remove makeup, so that definitely will need to be done beforehand. I would recommend this cleanser for those with skin sensitive to fragrance, or any harsh ingredients. This is probably one of the best affordable cleanser I would recommend someone to purchase if they're on a budget! The 500 ml size is HUGE and I can see it lasting quite a while.

The Spectro HydraCare Daily Moisturizer for Normal & Combination Skin is light, and ideal to wear at night or in the daytime. It works great under makeup and doesn't bring out my oily skin. It isn't greasy, and claims to not clog pores (which I don't feel like it does either). It absorbs quickly so I can prime and begin my makeup application right away. It's not shown here, but the box is a little scary and might make you think this is some type of medicated cream or something. It really isn't.. the ingredients are kept to a minimum and there is no scent to this moisturizer. A downside is that it doesn't contain SPF, but that gives me all the more reason to wear it both during the day and at night!

Overall, I would definitely purchase another cleanser and moisturizer from Spectro. As I mentioned, I have used them in the past and have never had a bad experience with their products.
