When I initially spotted this new line of skincare at Walmart, you can only imagine what was going through my head.. ("What's this? Cute packaging.. should I buy it? No..check reviews first?"). I decided to hold off and go home, maybe check out some reviews first. I was luckily contacted to review some products by Nspa as they have recently launched their beauty/facial skincare line in Canada. I always pass by some of their bath and body products in the beauty section at Walmart but didn't pay too much attention to the brand until I saw these!
All Nspa products are cruelty-free, paraben-free, suitable for all skin types, and dermatologically approved. Best of all, they are all created and used by spa experts (they also all have a pleasant scent!). Nspa numbers their products so you can personalize your own skincare routine in 4 simple steps:
Cleanse, Exfoliate, Treat, & Moisturize.
Of course you do not have to limit yourself to using only 4 products, I sure didn't, but it is a helpful guideline for picking out exactly what you need. Ingredients for the products can all be found on their website. Below, I've linked directly to their product page for each product review.
Don't be scared away by the 'deep cleansing' in the name. This foam cleanser does a great job of removing foundation, and is light enough to use twice daily. I usually use a makeup remover and then this to remove anything the makeup remover has missed, but you can skip the makeup remover if you don't wear a ton of makeup. Even if you do, this will still work to remove it! You may just need to rinse and repeat. It doesn't dry out my skin and is easy and quick to rinse off. It contains Vitamin E, moisturizing Ginseng, and Neroli oil to purify and soften the skin. This is probably my favourite product out of the four.
The Skin Renewal Gel is an interesting product. It claims to 'gently melt away dead skin cells to leave a soft and radiant complexion', and contains exfoliating fruit acids, and essential oil of Neroli. The instructions are to massage into face and neck for 1-2 minutes, leave it, then massage again until the gel breaks into an oil, and rinse. This 1-2 minute this ended up being a problem for me because I don't have the patience to rub my face for that long.. so I do it for about half a minute, add a bit of water which kind of makes it a bit milky, massage, and then rinse. My skin instantly felt smoother and soft. I'm not sure it really was strong enough to break down the dead skin cells (noticeably at least) but it does feel luxurious to use. This has a sparkle/sheen to it as well which probably adds the radiance to your skin.
Also called the Radiant Flash Serum, this serum works well under makeup to give a glow and a bit of radiance to the skin. It can be used under moisturizer, over it, as a primer, or (apparently) over makeup. It is similar to my well-loved Vichy Idealia Life Serum but with more golden shimmer, whereas Vichy's has more of a pink shimmer. It works in the same way, and adds a radiance to the skin. Once blended out the shimmer is nowhere near as strong as it initially looks (see swatches a couple photos below) so don't be afraid of it. It sinks into the skin nicely and doesn't affect the longevity of my makeup.
The Night Repair Cream is of course, designed to be applied before bed. It contains repairing ceramides to strengthen and protect, Ginseng, Vitamin E, and sweet almond oil. It is by far the thickest cream I have ever used, and has a nice light pink colour to it and when applied it has a matte effect due to the dimethicone being high up in the ingredients list. That is the only downside of this seemingly powerful cream. I felt as if this was too thick and clogged my pores. This might be suitable for daytime use, on those who are looking for a lot of moisture and evened out pores.
Swatches L to R: Deep Cleansing Face Wash, Skin Renewal Gel, Illuminating Beauty Serum, Night Repair Cream
Overall my first impressions of Nspa based on these products is great. I would definitely purchase a few of these again, and am so curious to try some of their other products out. My favourite are definitely the Deep Cleansing Face Wash and the Beauty Serum. I can't give exact pricing on these as I've seen them go for $12-16 at different Walmart locations in the GTA. I will try to find an exact price and post it here.
